shipping a dragon?

aligoonbaba Jun 16, 2003 01:55 PM

I plan on getting another beardie. perhaps one a little older than a baby, 3-5months. I was wondering what shipping does to a bearded at this age. Stress related and other health issues. I'm trying to avoid buying a dragon and having it shipped but im not having much luck finding young adults for sale in the Orlando area. thanks

It varies by individual dragon.....a healthy dragon should have no long term health problems or affects from shipping......the time it takes them to adjust in a healthy dragon varies though.....some will be fine from day one, ie eating and acting normal......others will take a couple of weeks to be back to their normal patterns and everything in between the two....though I'd say an average is about a week for good adjustment.

Just make sure the breeder is reputable.....the beardie looks well filled out in any pictures you receive and the temps are appropriate for shipping.....some places like here in Arizona, it's too hot to ship out at all.
