My new #1 breeding group...

hill4803 May 07, 2004 10:07 PM

This summer I am retiring my 2 female tremper jungle albinos. They aren't too old, I just don't like to breed them into the ground! The girls in the pic are htct, 1 just shed & the other 2 are getting ready to shed. I bought one of A & M gecko's jungle albino males. He looks to have a bit of tangerine in him as well, I can't wait to see what hatches. I will probably hold back a couple & cross them with another gecko from JCgeckos that I have my eye on.

That is a very cool rock setup. Did you make it yourself? and if so how did you do that????????? I'd love to create something that cool too

Thanks,
Red
P.S. nice geckos too

Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I made the fake rock myself. I used 3/4" polysterene (styrofoam) I cut/broke off pieces & used liquid nail to hold them together. I used regular (cheap) grey tile grout in 2 layers. The 1st was a very thin layer & the 2nd was a little thicker. I sealed it with grout sealer. I used a spray paint that has a "granite" look to it for a little extra color & texture. I will probably use regular sand in the sealant next time. It is very easy to do, a little messy though! I did the fake rock thing in my big boa cage several months ago & it looked surprisingly good, so I tried it with my leos. I like the look & the ease of these fake rocks. I bought everything at Lowe's & I will be doing some more of these projects (and posting pics) this summer. This is a pic of the inside of the boa cage...please excuse the snake activity inside!

Good job on those fake rocks. I too am going to be furnishing my new leos cage with the styrofoam rocks and i was wondering what type of enclosure you have them in. Also what kind of lighting/heating elements are you using to keep your gang warm? I was thinking about a normal household bulb and a red/blue/black bulb at night. Thanks for any advice. Your lizards look great!
