gregz May 08, 2004 07:07 AM

I just woke up and my Coastal now has 4 eggs out and is still laying but my problem is she is laying them outside of her nest box on newspaper I was able to get one of the eggs as it came out but she is still laying and they are starting to stick to the paper.. How doI get them off the paper without damageing them? Sorry for any typos but these are my first eggs andmy hands are shaking so bad I can hardly type......
Thanks in advance

I had the same problem last year. I just slowly peeled them off the newspaper, and that worked fine. They did end up having a little print on them, but they all hatched out great! If worse comes to worse, just cut around the newspaper stuck to the eggs and leave it on there for a little bit, I'm sure it will fall off over time. GOOD LUCK, and CONGRATS!

Thanks again you were right I was able to pull them off with no problems. She ended up laying 14 and no slugs took her about 2 hours to get them out and I was lucky enough to get it all on film.
Take Care and thanks again,
Greg

Congradulations again. You sound like you are an over protective father like I am! Things usually work out. Good luck with the incubation, and post pics when they start coming out!
