schwartzenstobe May 08, 2004 11:41 AM

hello, everyone. I have had a jackson for about 4 months now and he has been doing great. He eats regularly and drinks regularly. he is misted 3-4 times a day and his dripper is on almost all day. When I bought him he was small so I boughht a small screen enclousure.Just resently I have been making plans to construct a much larger one.Anyway I have noticedhim black for most of the day.I took him out yesterday and put him on a fushia tree I have in the back and he was normal colors and happy. Is the black coloring because he is stressed from the sp.s. can this be life threatening.mall cage?please help.sorry for long post and thanks

85 is too hot for Jax.

Can he see any reflections of himself?

no he can not.the basking spot is at 85

When he shows black, are there any green patches or diamonds on his sides? A stressed jax often show these markings. A jax that is generally cold will be more solid black with no diamonds. Yes, 85 is too hot for jax. You will need a larger cage stuffed with plants. If you have trouble finding him it is about right.

how about drainage?wet ground is a breeding ground for bacteria
also he might be stressed from not having places to hide
