hybino arizona mountain king?

rtdunham May 08, 2004 12:32 PM

here's a pic of two of my albinos. The larger one is a female, and very pale compared to the other, which is a male. Is this just a case of the normal range of variation from red to orange in wild-type pyros? Or is the pale one a hybino? It came from a clutch that could have produced a hybino.

Hi Terry,
Test breeding is the only way to find out for sure. I kind of think it is a hybino-(but that could just be me wanting to see a hybino right now). But there is much variability in orange to deep red in pyros. Sp I think there will be a few different shades of orange-red albino pyros. Especially in the future. I know if some Chris Baubel line pyros were to amels thent hey would be orange too-probally just as orange as the poss. hybino you have. But who knows-it may be even more pale orange in person than what the pic shows. I find it hard to capture the right look of amels in pics. Anyways, thanks for posting a new pic of her.

she actually put on 30-40 grams at the vet's, they were tubing her every day. but she's been home for a week and hasn't taken a pinky yet, so while she's strong & fit, i'm pretty sure her breeding season is history. I'm content with that though, with her looking good for preparing for next year.
