Baby Patternless Albinos

Jeanne May 08, 2004 01:08 PM

I have a question about Patternless Albinos. I just hatched a baby whose mother is a Rainwater Patternless Albino and the father is a Rainwater Albino 100% Patternless Albino. What is the best way to tell if a baby is a patternless albino and not just a patternless?

Also wanted to say "HI" to everyone. I haven't been posting for a while but I have been in and out of the forum. I moved recently but I am settled in now and getting back in the swing of things!

Babies are starting to hatch, it is VERY exciting! I absolutely love this time of the year, breeding season is so much fun. I lost my digital camera during the move (Bummer!), but I have another coming soon, so I will be posting pictures here and on my web site, hopefully this week.

Thanks for the help with the Patternless Albino question!

Welcome back. I have no idea about the patternless geckos, but if you have some for sale in the near future I will probably be buying some! I posted some pics of the babies I got from you last summer, they are the best! These are 3 of the girls.

They look awesome! Glad they got a great home! I just hatched out 3 more babies from the same parents this week. The babies look super! One egg didn't make it unfortunately. But I have more eggs incubating that should hatch very soon.

I will also have some Patternless Albino babies for sale leter, I have about 10 Patternless Albino eggs incubating (well 9 now that 1 hatched today).

I will post pictures hopefully this week

Are you breeding any of your geckos?

The 3 girls in the picture will be breeding this summer with a jungle albino I bought yesterday from Alberto at A & M geckos. He has a little tangerine in him also. I am still looking for a group of females to go with another of the males I got from you, he is soooo mellow! The lavender in these geckos is beautiful, did you do that intentionally?

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, but my internet connection went down. I didn't breed lavender in intentionally, I guess I just got lucky. I was going for more tangerine.

Good luck with your breeding!

I am a little confused on the parents genetics. The mother is a P/A is this correct? The father is RW albino het for patternless, is this correct? Or is the father a RW albino who is het for P/A? Either way I will be having this same dilema soon my self. From what I gather the tails and the eyes are the key factors. The tails are all white on the P/A's and the eyes should have that albino look to them. I hope that helps some and hopefully someone with alot of P/A experience can elaborate more.

There is really no such thing as "albino het for patternless albino" or "patternless het for patternless albino". There are albinos het patternless and patternless het albinos. PA is a double recessive gene.

As far as ow to tell them apart, if you have to ask then it is most likely just a regular patternless. Patternless albinos are usually bright yellow with pinkish eyes and white tails.

Here is a pic of a baby. Congrats on your baby BTW!

You said patternless albino is a double recessive gene...it's actually 2 separate recessive genes, and the fact that they are both recessive in PA's makes the leo double recessive. I just wanted to clear that up for anyone else.

I meant to say patternless albino is a double recessive TRAIT, not gene. Sorry if I confused anyone

you should be able to tell easy. If you have ever seen a baby patternless you will be able to tell very easy which ones are PA. They are much lighter and brighter.

Thanks everyone for the help, I have never seen a baby patternless in person so I will take a picture of this baby this week (Hopefully) and post it, hopefully it is a Patternless Albino.

Thanks Again!
