tegu in green house?

my mom is i think starting to be ok with having a 4 and a half long lizard but thinks it would be mean to keep it in a cage and was talking about having it in the green house. what im curious about is can they be on sement with a dirt hide box for digging in? also what pots for plants would stop a tegu from braking it or knoking it over?
