Im afraid ive been a bit of an idiot. I was feeding my male pyxie and, as it was late and i was lazy i used the forceps to pass the food to the frog in the tank rather then putting him in the feeding chamber.

I managed to drop the food item and as it landed he lunged and grabed a large piece of moss with it. I tried to take this from him but couldn't. The moss was about the same size as his head, he is two thirds fully grown.

What i would like to know is what to do now, get him down to the vet or see if he manages to pass it? Ive never had this happen before so i dont know if he is in emediate danger.

Well you could wait and see if he poops based on his regular bathroom schedule if he hasn't gone then take him to a vet.I think it is very hard to be impacted but a large piece of moss might do it.Also I don't know if your using moss for a decorative purpose or for subtrate but I recommend getting rid of it and using forest bed it looks alot nicer.

It is not hard to get a frog impacted. All it takes is a large quantity of anything not easily digested, and that will do it. Soil can do it, moss can do it, papertowels can do it, rocks can do it, and I remember hearing that even chiton from feeding(or overfeeding) mealworms can cause impaction.
