Approximately 1130pm 11/7/04, Calloway County (Stella), KY. Mike O, Devona O and I cruised several back roads. The temp was cool...probably in the mid 60's and falling. There was a full moon. All of the following were found DOR.
Snakes
1 Copperhead- Agkistrodon contortix*
1 Black Racer- Coluber constrictor
1 Black Kingsnake- Lampropeltus getula nigra
1 Rough Greensnake- Opheodrys aestivus
1 Ringneck Snake- Diadophis punctatus
1 Dekay's Snake- Storeria dekayi
Turtles
1 Eastern Box Turtle- Terrapene carolina carolina*
Anurans
Several Bufo sp (also abundantly found AOR)
1 Gray Treefrog- Hyla versicolor
* Indicates juvenile
Also saw...
Bullfrog- Rana catesbiana (1 adult and several huge larvae in a cow pond off the side of the road)
Overall there were a lot of herps seen. No AORs though! How sad. Still looking for some black kings. Perhaps when I go down to West, TN I'll have some luck. I'll provide the report when I return. NO herping tonight (I think). I figured pictures of dead herps would upsetting so I decided to not to take pictures of them.
By the way don't forget to call your mothers...Sunday is Mother's Day!
