My Clutch Of Eggs...LooK...

Boaboy00 May 08, 2004 06:16 PM

Here is a pic of a clutch of eggs, we seem to be loosing some humidity but that can be fixed. The breeding was from Ghost X Normal. 26 more days until the hatch. 6 eggs good and 2 bad.

Here is a pic of the eggs that was bad from the get go. It has gottan worse! The other bad egg is on the bottom of the other 6 good eggs and can barely be seen...

Thanks..........Mike Haralambis & Eric Daley

you do know that they are way to collapsed for 26 days to hatch? One thing you can do is keep putting damp paper towels on them everyday until they plump back up. Don't soak the paper towels just make them damp, and keep putting them on until they look full.

Yea, I think im going to mist them with one squirt every week or so, or do you think the paper towel thing would be better?

Didn't notice....will have to look at the pic better....if they are sitting in 5 gal. of water that is being heated and they are still like that then you have a leak somewhere in your incubator.

Boaboy00 May 08, 2004 07:07 PM

No leak......I already check all around it and no wet spots.

hmmmmmmmmm.............

but I have used the paper towel method courtesy of The Snake Keepers' advice with great success. Just remember to change it daily until they plump up.

Hope this helps,

even opened up incubater and dumped a pint of water all over them more or less............don't try this unless you know you may drown them all.....I never have yet though...have sprayed.....dumped....used damp cloth method too..(paper didn't fit around eggs as well as a cloth rag...)........

...........cloth rag fits LOOSELY on TOP of top eggs only....I never covered a clutch.......

I use vermic' and bury eggs a little less than halfway.......

.......anyways....as I said.....don't try this at home.......LOL

....have fun...........

(by the way...those eggs look dry and shrunken a little I think too)........so much for the "NO medium method"......

I've used that method for 10 years and it rocks. I've seen people kill eggs by burying them in vermiculite as well, so its just as easy for me to sit in my chair and spout out that vermiculite kills eggs.

This is just THIS year (2004) but well over 100 eggs and 100% hatch rates on NO substrate. I can’t argue with it, I just do it.

Multiple species as well.

So much for the no substrate method? Indeed….

Jeff how big of a fish tank do you use. Also what do you use for a lid to make it air tight. Post pics of the tank please

Glass can't hold heat. The key to an incubator is an insulated box where tmperature doesn't change. If you use crappy containers that let heat escape, you'll have nothing but problems.

I use a 3x3x3 insulated wood box with dual top opening doors (that are also insulated). Each incubator can hold 16 Ball Pythons clutches.

I know people kill eggs no matter what....and I know some people think they killed the eggs at times when they were in fact dead from the start ......and I know there is no perfect method or correct method and everyone is as right as they are wrong..and all things work or don't no matter of other people's past experiences........and I know that the reason I said that is that that one clutch in the photo looked like crap and shrunk a little(lot?)...and I know that they will still probably hatch..and I know that people write all the good and successful crap in here and rarely write their total screwups..and I know that people named Jeff are usually totally ....hmmm...I cannot think of a word for in here that isn't bad.........um....crapheads?.....full of themselves alot?.... dumbassses?........ and I know that you had 100% success in everything you ever did with eggs..........

so........

have fun..........

I know eggs are resilient and stuff, but man they sure look dehydrated. I hope for his sake that they pull through.

I never said I had 100% hatch rate with everything I do. All I was replying to was you saying that a method was no good, which has obviously been proven to work. Didn't think it was a huge deal.

jyohe May 10, 2004 06:10 PM

not a big deal........

......that clutch looks fair.......I seen worse hatch......

........and I never said no substrate didn't work.....it works....but it is easier for the morons that come in here asking stupid questions to screw up....than the vermiculite method.....

.....wow...how blunt of me.........LOL

........wonder how many idiots got it?........

anyways...........

How long have you seen it to take until they plump up. And should warm water be used to damp the paper towel? And lastly should the paper towel cover the WHOLE entire clutch?

Thanks..........Mike Haralambis
