i love my african rock pythons very much both of them became very docile snakes after lots of handling and getting nailed several hundred times they never get over the hissing though just like burmese pythons rock pythons are very hyper snakes as well burms are slow moving snakes not very active rock pythons on the other hand will take off as fast as they can go across the room when you pick them up my female was a healthy 2 foot baby when i got her had good weight came from a reputable dealer Ken Foose of Exotic Pets Las Vegas she is about 6 foot now and very well mannered the male i got i wasnt even looking at african rock pythons at the time my friend got the snake as a rescue animal he was going to college and needed money so i ended up with a 7 foot rock python docile snake great feeder both my rocks will eat anything alive or frozen the male was healthy when i got him other than someone appearently couldnt afford to feed him he was very thin when i got him he has put some weight back on and is pushing 10 feet now still too thin for his length but he is coming around nicely

i build my large snake enclosures myself my rocks are both in a 10 foot long 2 foot high and 4 foot out from the wall enclosure i made myself they will never out grow it most books only tell you that you need 8 feet for them same as with burms but in my opinion the snake should have at least half its body lenght and since rock pythons can reach 20 feet half that is 10
