From the pic you posted, it looks as if they are both female. Male tristis, usually develop large spurs on either side of the tail base; much more prominent than any other monitor I've seen before.. I don't see any in the pic, perhaps they are just hard to see from this pic. Do yours differ in appearance of their tailbases? With my t. orientalis and t. tristis, the difference between the boys and girls is night and day. Anyways, gorgeous animals, I think they are very beautiful, fascinating animals.. Take care,

Thanks for the info . He is a male for shore he has the spures it doesnt show in the pics.I see a lot of breeding now . should i keep them together or separated them .

Cool, yeah, I guess it was just difficult to tell from the pic. I wish you the best of luck with them, and hope you get a plethora of eggs from them...and of course some beautiful babies..take care,

If they are doing what they are supposed to be doing, why change things by removing the male?? I don't think he would give her any problems while she is gravid, but that is just what I have seen in my collection... take care, good luck.
