Couple Quick Questions......

Jbuggs20 May 09, 2004 06:55 AM

1. One of my breeder females about a week or so layed 2 eggs that ended up becoming stuck together.. Now a week later 1 of the eggs has become very yellow and there is a thin layer of mold starting to grow on it the other egg is doing great. What do i do just leave it alone and let the one egg hatch or am i going to have to end up seperating them??

2. Whats a good way to fatten up a geckos tail other then worms??? A few of my geckos are very picky wont get a near a worm but will eat a thousand crickets.. The food items are already dusted any alternatives?????

3. My friend down the street has a couple geckos he is a hard headed kid and keeps them in sand outside on his screened in back porch. The other day one of his females layed eggs. The problem is they were layed in the sand so you can imagine how they eggs look... 2 small sandrocks. I cant even tell if the eggs are good or not.. I dont think there is much that I can do other then wait it out. Unless?????

4. One of my females is pretty consistant with her laying schedule every 17 days on the dot.. But she looks gravid again for her 4th clutch but its 22 days and she doesnt show any interest in the lay box or nothin.. Im starting to think there might be something wrong??

5. I know females lose weight during breeding season but do males also??? My male rainwater albino has went from 63grams to 45 grams in the past 2-3months is this common? He still has nice wieght just not what he use to look like..

6. OK last question... Whats up with this Las Vegas Albinos and etc.. etc... At 1st it was just rainwater, bell, and tremper and this was easy to remember and even identify now they are useing city's im guessing its got something to do with where the breeders are located????? Las Vegas and Texas and ?????? Why all of a sudden the change in titles???? Any insight would be great... Also if someone could list which is which..

if one egg has mold and you dont seperate the mold will spread and most likely kill the other eggs, you can try putting both eggs in a seperate container and see what happens, or you can try to pry the bad egg off but do it VERY gently

Pinkies,waxworms,superworms,butterworms,crickets..anything will fatten them up, but it depends on the gut content, crickets and pinkys would be your best bet,a pinky every week will do,and crickets daily, maybe every 2 days, waxworms once a week also, i give each of mine 5 a week, i use a brand of flukers gutload mixed with t rex's cricket gutload and a whole bottle of t-rex's leo dust and my leos have beed growing like weeds and gaining a fair amout of weight

well its unlikely that they are fertile if they where her second clutch, and the sand probaby dry'ed then out,you can gently dust off some sand tahts stuck to the egg and put the 2 eggs in a seperate container in your incubator and wait it out

it might just be her last clutch for now, i know when my female was laying she's lay the eggs 25 days apart, her last clutch came after 32 days, if she doesnt lay them in a week or 2 then you could start worrying, lol, you'll find her one of these days in there digging away, do you house her alone? id not them i would suggest so, the stress of an cagemate may have finally gotten to her

Yes, males do loose a considerable amount of weight when breeding, happens to alot of males, my albono jungle male lost a good 15 grams, its mostly from not being interested in food and onlu thinking about breeding again, nothing to worry about

las vegas and rainwater are the same thing, Tim Rainwater clamed he made the rainwater albinos when all he did was get one and claim it to be his own genetic morph, he was a con artist and has now fled the herp scene so breeders call them the Las Vegas albinos because using his name in irelevant(sp? lol)
