Well it is said that they can be nasty. But it differs for every snake. They are also thought of as very "intelligent", and act very alert and curious when handled (personal experience only).
They will also let you know if they are aggitated by hissing or striking. Just because they are a "fat" snake, does not mean they are not fast.

Like I said, different snake, differnt temperments.
Thats like asking what the temperments of rottweilers are like.

To start off I'd like to say they are thought of nippy or nasty. Reason for this being is from the early days of all the imports. Captive animals really aren't that bad. Babies of any bred are usually nippy or nervous. In time any of them can become calm. I disagree with what was said above about hissing. Bloods are very vocal. They will hiss almost repeatly not stopping during the length of them being held. There is a difference between an aggressive hiss and a vocal hiss. These snakes really aren't fast especially when moving. Their strike is pretty quick though.
I do agree that every animal is different. For example you can have a calm nile or a psycho animal that wants to bite your head off! anyways just some thoughts.
