Crickets keep dying, why???>>>>>>>

gmherps May 09, 2004 09:57 AM

I keep them in my herp room, so the temp is always right. I don't over crowd, and provide a wet sponge for water. I have egg cartons so they move without trampling each other. I feed them veggies and fruits. Why do they keep dying after just a couple of days?
Thanks for the help.

How big are they? If they are Large then I would suspect dying of old age. If they are smaller than 1/2" I would tend to say you might want to mist them once a day or put damp paper towels under them and mist them - better to hold the damp for longer. Otherwise it is hard to say without seeing. Crix are so darn fragile it seems until you just 'get it right' and I think that is as likely from chance. Can you tell I am not thrilled with crix?
Have you tried a different source to see if you are just getting 'bad bugs'?

Haven't we warned you about tampering with the structure of a chaotic system?
