I have let mine swim in my pool it has not done anything to mine. But they enjoy the swim thats for sure.
Wow,
The chlorine does not affect them in any way? What if they drink it?
How much chlorine are you using in your pool? With mine you don't even smell it much less taste it. I can swim eyes open without redness, and I can drink it myself.
Also do not let them swim in it right afteryou treat it with chlorine. I thought that was a given I dont even swim in mine right after treating it.
Most pools if the chlorine levels are of a normal range it is hardly anything to harm you. But I guess if you really are heavy on it then you might see some damage, but then you yourself would also be ill more then likely.
I do rinse them off after they swim, but I also rinse myself off as well.
Why would you think a swim in the pool is harmful to them anyways????? If it was so deadly then why are you jumping in it?
I have never had any of my monitors in a pool, but to answer your question, I just pictured that it might be unhealthy. The reason being is that every pool I have ever been in seems to have an appreciable amount of chlorine, as it is strong-smelling.
I am not disagreeing with you, but another reason that I thought this is that it is known that a very good rinse of any bleach when cleaning water bowls, cage furniture is important, etc...
(I know that is a different type of bleach than the chlorine sued in pools). So, I was under the impression that reptiles were sensitive to chrlorine in even small amounts, I guess I was wrong.. I wish that I would have known that before selling my adult BRN, as it would have been really great to see him swim in a deep poool on a really hot summer day...

Well I do not let the levels of chlorine stay high in my pool. If I did I wouldn't be able to swim my skin gets itchy and my eyes turn red. I keep my pool clean but not to the point where the fumes also clean everything within 10 feet. LOL
I know what you mean as a public pool would probly not be a good idea, as they seem to use alot higher amounts.
As for bleach I use a 10:1 water to bleach mix. I also since I have well water, spray a little in the tubs before filling them back up.
