Gravid Cal King?

redsreptiles88 May 09, 2004 12:15 PM

I was wondering what the best way was to tell if you snake was actually gravid or not. I have a female striped cal that breed with a male striped, and I was wondering if she is gravid or not. Her bottom scales are sticking out, bit I do not see individual lumps like people say are a definite characteristic of a gravid snake. Thanks for all the info .

You need to wait until after her prelay shed.

Soon after her pre-lay shed you should let her crawl on to something, like the edge of her cage. Dig (but very gently) your fingertips into her underside and if she is gravid you will feel very distinct bumps which are eggs.
