Honduran genetics?

eryxboa May 09, 2004 02:03 PM

I am somewhat confused about honduran milksnake genetics. Firs off, if I were to breed a hypo tangerine X a hypo tricolor, what would come of it? Do the two pattern variations present a roadblock to crossing the hypo trait over, and how would you be able to transfer the morph over. Also there seems to be a lot of different hypo morphs (pinstripe, vanishing pattern, tricolor, tangerine), so what would happen if a pinstripe bred with a tricolor, or a tangerine with a vanishing pattern ect? Are all of these hypo variations different morphs?

A hypo is a hypo is a hypo. The tri-color or pinner or tangerine or whatever ids olny a pattern variation. Its not a morph at all.If you bred a tri-colored hypo to a tangerine hypo you would get all hypos,What they would look like is hard to say?You would probably get some of each but maybe more of one depending on the background of the animals.

Since pattern morphs are more less not recessive we only can hope they carry over when bred? When you see a vanishing pattern hypo its been a few generations in the makeing. You could breed a hypo to a vanishing pattern hypo and just get average hypo?I have done it.

Anyways,Hope this helps.
For more info on morphs you can check out my site and or terry dunhams site.
