Snake will only eat anoles (lizards)

football9755 May 13, 2003 05:18 PM

I have a 8 month old corn. It escaped from its cage about a month ago and i caught it about 3 weeks ago. I offered it a pinky and it would not eat it. So I had an anole and i did not care for it any more. So i fed it to my corn and he ate it. Now he will not eat pinkies. Is there a way to help him eat pinkies again??

Thanks

There's a product called lizard maker I think by zoo med. It's an anole sented liquid that comes with a dropper you put one drop of the liquid on the mouses nose and and the snake thinks its a lizard and eats I don't know how well it works but we sell it at the store I work in and I've heard good things from a co worker, Hope this helped.

What other "tricks" have you tried? Try cutting the head completely off of a pinky and putting the snake and the headless pink in a deli cup or other small container. My "problem feeder" snow corn can't seem to resist that one. But then, she never tasted a lizard. Interesting enough, I almost went the lizard route with her. I had actually gone to a couple of pet stores and asked them what they do with their dead ones. I looked for the anole scent. Then I tried the headless pink.
WHAM!!! Good luck. Duffy

I have tried to cut off the head of the pinky and put them in a deli cup. It didnt work. I am going to look for that liquid lizard smell thingy soon. I hope I can find it.

Thanks anyways

I had a hatchling that would not look at pinkies, so I got a anole and froze it, and took small pieces of the tail and put them in the pinkie's mouth... If the lizard scent stuff doesn't work, you may want to try scenting with a real lizard.
