What's a good substrate.....?

Hey, as you can see below, i have a month-ish (now) old leopard gek now on paper towels. When it gets older, however, what should I put her on. As of now I will put her on ESU Reptiles' Jungle Mix Lizard Litter.

But, I am also contemplating the top soil/sand/vermiculite 50/25/25 mix currently being widely used for uros. I think about this because it is "dirty" and holds humidity well. Anyway, I'd love you guys` inputs!!!! Thanks!

I was actually told about ceramic or slate tiles by someone on this forum(i think her name was Christina but i am not 100% sure)

that is what i am using and so far it has been great.

i put a thin layer of sand in the bottom of the cage first and then place the tiles on top of that. i then put a little sand to fill the cracks between them and it looks great plus cleanup is a snap. i put a small tile in the one corner they are pooping in and every evening i do fresh water fresh mealwoms and just slip the small tile out and clean it well. then add crickets and watch the show. these guys are too cool.

just an idea for you

"I will put her on ESU Reptiles' Jungle Mix Lizard Litter." DONT do that, it will keep the humidity up way to much. The sand/soil/vermiculite mixture used for uros and monitors will probably be good if a) your using an overhead heat lamp which drys out a lot of of the air and b) it keeps the humidity relatively low. Try using astroturf, paper towels, or fake rock.

Tiles are very easy to clean; they can be wiped down with a damp paper towel (every day or so) and removed for thorough cleanings less often. You can also put a small amount of paper towel in a "potty area" and clean up the paper towel every day. The biggest advantage to tiles is that they hold heat very well! This is a major advantage over paper towels...as well as the fact that nothing can get under them. Tiles are also very inexpensive and, at less than $2 a tile, are probably cheaper than paper towels in the long run since they will last forever. Tiles also provide a very natural and attractive look. You can get ceramic or slate tiles at Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, or any store like them, and they can cut the tiles for you...you can also get vinyl tiles from them, and cut them yourself with a good pair of scissors. I'd recommend tiles without a shiny finish, as those tiles can be slippery. Another good thing about tiles is that they create no additional risk to leo health.

Hmm, tile, if you could post pics of your guys` cages with tiles, that would be very cool. I see the advantages, but I cannot picture it in my head very well, it looks strange. Thank!!
