bonniejoe May 10, 2004 12:10 PM

hi i just got a lovely visit from my landlord.
seems like the lady upstairs was complaining about the noise my vicious iguana has been making, and her fears that my ig will climb into her apartment!!!
and legitmatley the crickets that has been entering her apartment(i am going to post on the chams page next)
anyways my landlord who is a very cool person is going to try and talk to head office for me but they are telling him that i am not allowed to keep my lizards!!
there is nothing in the lease,
can they do anything????
does anyone know of a site i can check out regarding iguanas and my being able to keep them.

If there isnt a pet clause in your contract with your apt building then they cant tell you to get rid of your animals. That being said, do you have any lawyer friends? lol. But it doesnt really matter what the laws state it is what your landpeople have put into your contract. Now if your contract doesnt say anything about "animals in cages" or not in cages or confined then get a lawyer and see what you can work out. Many times with the fear of a lawsuit the apt owner/manager will back down. But, if you let this ride it will prolly lead to them evicting you from your apt by breech of contract so jump on this as soon as possible!

well i found out the bylaws in toronto
(if the info i got was correct)
and it states that i can keep a reptile no bigger than 2 meters
which works out to six and a half feet
(i have a girl almost four feet so i don't think she will get has big has that(i hope))
and there is nothing in my lease about pets of any kind, caged or not
looks like we will be ok
thanks!
and the lady who complained is moving in two weeks and seems to be causing [bleep] for others has well.
