Hello
I'm a first time argus keeper and I was wondering if they tripod often I've had mine for two weeks and he doesn't tripod everything else is normal. also he's an eating machine just like a human baby every 4 hours he eats till full sleeps and eats. I was wondering if I should provide him with food 24/7 so that he could keep his routine going. Hot spot 125 ambient 80 to 88, he's 15" and was only 13" two weeks ago.
thanks

I'd rather be fly'n

Animals do things for a reason, not just to be doing them. Argus, tripod to see. If there is no reason to see, then there is no reason to tripod.

They also tripod to fight. hahahahahahahahahahaha Not sure you want to see that.

Give them something to see, at a distance, and they will tripod. They are such great monitors. FR

Why are you dressing up your meerkats in argus clothing? LOL

Nice picture what were they looking at?

I agree these guys are the best so fearless and amusing. I've only kept two niles before this and I can already tell I'm sticking with argus. By the way thanks for all the great info you post. I wonder if those niles would have spent so much time in thier water bowls if I had given them a proper cage that held humidity. Thanks again

Hi Frank,
I've noticed that there are some argus with a longer, pointier head (like the ones in your pic), and others that seem to have a much blunter and overall more distinct head (kind of like an 8-ball head type thing. Is this just natural variation, or do you know of any differences in local or anything?
Thanks
Mike
