From my post on breeder success...We now have THREE female deaths from egg-binding/dystocia THIS season!!!

And not a bunch of successes!!

Have we just not reported these before? Was I the only one stupid/brave enuff to post my tragedy and opened the door for others ....

If we haven't been reporting these deaths before for fear of ridicule, it certainly has NOT caused anyone to be bashed, so if there are guys out there who know/experienced these deaths in the past, come on out and let us know if this was a really terrible year or if this is not so rare...

We all need the info...

Carl,

I had a female get eggbound about two years ago, but luckily she didnt die, and with the administration of OXYTOCIN and aspiration of ALL the eggs within her body cavity, she was able to pass the depleted eggs quite nicely. That has been the only female I ever had eggbind. But I have had my share of eggs going full term and not hatching and of course high infertility rates. I think it is tragic when we lose one of these, regardless if it is a potential breeder or not. Even if it cannot reproduce, the snake can be used as an educational aide to teach people about these magnificent serpents.

Take care,

Fred
