2 Tokay Males

antonm May 10, 2004 07:11 PM

Hey guys. I started out with 1 male tokay in a 70 gallon tank and some time ago bought a "female". Well now that its fattened up and looking better I can infact see that its another male. They have been doing just fine together so far...they bark once in a while but I dont think at each other. They share the same hiding log and often sit on top of each other. I have not seen any violence as of yet but the new tokay is putting on weight and looking more in shape. I'm worried about my first tokay because now that its smaller it might be in danger of getting attacked and so forth. I am planning to buy a new tank somewhere within this month which will be much taller and about twice the volume. Do you think I should seperate the guys out or should I keep them since they seem to be making friends? I remember ingo telling me earlier that this sometimes happens so if you got any other comments ingo let me know.

If you read through my old postingd, you will remember, that I had two male tokays which lived together very peacefully and even showed significantly more bonding to each other than to the females in the same tank.
So if yours get along well, be happy and don´t seperate them.
However, if there is no female in the tank, be careful if you later introduce one. Can cause trouble between the males.

Yeah I wasnt going to introduce one because that would almost definetly cause trouble. If I ever go that route I'll make sure to find a good home for one of them.
