dmlove Jun 16, 2003 05:41 PM

lol welllll....we put them in the big cage, and they basked for a little...and then the male Ralph head bobbs at Cheech, and cheech arm waves and head bobbs back and Ralph mounts her, grabs her by the scruff of the neck (idk what its called, lol) and tries to mate, but he doesnt seem to know to get his tail under her, and she doesnt know to lift and what not, and then he tries mounting again, grabs her, she arm waves and flattens, and he bobbs and gets more on top of her....but cant get his darn tail under hers!! what can i do, (i know, probably nothing) to help him,,is this just inexperience, hes done this before, but not with Cheech, any help would be appreciated asap thanks guys..

i dont think there is a darn thing you can do, but let nature take its course if it will, she just may not be receptive to him, there is nothing you can do to help it along, like said previously it just may take some time =)

by the way, just curious if you have put a lot of thought to this, you may be taking care of 50, 60 maybe 70 or more babies by the time this is all said and done, she can lay multiple clutches from one breeding, that many babies is a lot of work. You will be tending to babies for months. Youll need multiple enclosures, multiple lighting set ups and thousands and thousands of crickets to feed the lil guys. Perhaps you have found buyers already? I know some people will sell to mom and pop petstores when the babies are old enough or there are the classifieds here, beware the competition is fierce, lotsa babies out there looking to be sold, and all claiming to be the brightest and most beautiful =) just thought i would give you the heads up, not doubting that you have given it thought but ya never know, lotsa people go into things blindly, like me on the weekend thinking painting my house would be an easy task, was i wrong...ill not take on that task again, it stunk =P
