MOOD COLOR CHANGE!!

ericchen May 10, 2004 08:55 PM

omg...i knew that geckos had a color changing ability....like cresteds...but i didn't know it was that pronounced...i shouldve took a pic...but i was just cleaning out the cage...and my baby male hissed at me and started opening its mouth...then it started turning grey....and since i have white paper towels...there was a SIGNIFICANT difference in a short time...anybody notice this?

Don't know about the color change, but how old is your "little hisser"? We have one of those to and I can't help but laugh at it. She thinks she is a little dinosaur or something....lol or atleast that is what she looks like when she does that. None of out other leos have ever done that just her. She's the one with less spots on her head. (no they are no longer on sand)lol but you already knew that.

well..my little hisser is 3 months old...the darker of my blizzards...and the first day i got him...he was in a deli cup...hiding his head under the paper towel ..it was cute...then once i opened it up..he started hissing and hissing...and then i stuck my hand in to pick him up...and he bit me...didn't hurt ...mighty cute...sounded like he was trying to whistle..then he did the famous tail wag and propped his body al high....the other one was just a sweety...didn't do nothing...licked my hand and climbed on....but hey...u gotta love those little guys with an attitude...like a miniature pinscher or yorkshire terrier of the gecko world..

lol that's so funny. My husband likes the ones with an attitude better. He says they have more personality....lol I personally like the ones that don't hiss at me....I have the instant reaction to pull my hand out when they hiss....and of course the family laughs at me...

well...i keep them on a rack...its not like a tight fitting cool/pro looking rack...like..just those racks u buy at costco....and my juvie is kept on the middle level....so i remove the lid...and my head was peering over the sterilite....and suddenly this gecko ran out of its hide...and kinda hopped and hissed...like lunging at me....this is when i got freaked out and i hit my head on the top level...haha...but it was soo weird...it had like a...guarding instinct...it ran out of its ceramic hide...and just kinda "barked" at me ....now it just kinda watches me and wags its tail...u would think that mean geckos are easily stressed...but i don't think mine is...i think hes just got a dead mealie up his vent *figuratively speaking of course* or something...cuz he eats fine and is growing...hahahha
