proper length and weight for a one month old rhino?

andrewhedlund Jun 16, 2003 06:02 PM

I am going to buy a rhino from regal reptiles at an upcoming expo in White Plains. Based on what I have been told, this group will be about one month old. Can anyone tell me how long and how heavy these guys should be at this age? Also, how filled out should they be? I won't be able to weigh them on the spot. From what I have read, they shouldn't be very beefy at this age but not too skinny. Has anyone here dealt with Regal Reptiles? A picture of your rhino at one month would would be nice, so I know what to look for.

thanks

Don't know if this will help or not but here's a photo of Loofah at 22 days old. He grew in leaps and bounds the first year. Did you find out where Regal got these babies?

Have you ever been there? The animals usually look good, but the place is kinda gross. It smells and animals are often crammed into small or over-crowded cages. I guess the only difference between Regal and other pet stores is that Regal's aniamals usaully look good. I would buy stuff from them. In the disgusting crowd of pet shops they are higher onthe scale than most. If JL Breeders fro East Providence, RI is there see him. His shop looks good, the animals look good and the PLACE DOES NOT SMELL. I sell my animals to him first and at t a lower price. Trying to help out the guy struggling todo a good job.

Again Regal is not sooo bad.

Thanks for your replies. The owner said that he got the rhinos from "someone in pennsylvania." He did not say exactly who.

I just went to their website. It does look like a very clean place. I also called him up. He seems like a knowledgable and honest person. He said that he does not have any rhinos now but will likely be picking up some in a week or so. He will hand-pick the best ones to bring to the white plains expo. Is he buying them from someone on this forum perhaps?

thanks

I know Joe personally through years of buying from him and he is a legit guy to deal!
His place is immaculate and his animals are very healthy. If there is something wrong with the animal you get from him he will hook you up and make things right.
He'll pick you up a Cyclura or you can just contact Bob Ehrig for one.
