I was thinking of using manzanita off my property as branches for climbing in my water dragon enclosure. would this be ok?
Also, what would I have to do to the branches to make them safe for the water dragons if anything?
thanks

You have to clean them, and bake them if possible. I used a weak bleech solution and scrubbed and rinsed the branches very well. Then I let them either dry in the sun, or for smaller ones I baked them in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. That should kill any eggs or bugs in the branches. I had a branch in my tank once that was nearly 6 feet long and about 10 inches around, it weighed about 50 pounds. I didn't clean it well enough apparently because a few days later flying ants hatched out of it! Luckily the ants mostly just drowned in the water bowl, and i didn't have any problems after that.
