I will try and answer as many as I can.

Collareds like it HOT, the temperatures should be 100 - 105 (basking area) and high 80s to 90 in rest of tank

UVB yes, I also use reptisun 5.0
I have never used the Halogen bulbs you will have to ask somebody else about them.

I use Washed Playsand from Home depot 50lb bag for about 4.98

As far as your question on Aquaflame subspecies, there is no subspecies.

The collareds referred to as aquaflames(turquoise/grenish body yellowy head and orangey yellow throat is of the species
C. Collaris.

Aquaflame is just a term that was coined by A breeder of collareds, (Thomas Jones) he called them that referring to their color, NOT species!

The fake rocks I dont know, but there are a few on here that make them, post another post just asking about fake rocks. I'm sure DC. Jumbo, or Johnee will get back to you on them.

Females are mature enough to mate at 9 months of age, most of mine were a year or so before they mated. Even the males did not seem interested until atleast a year.

As far as how to pick a healthy lizard. I would have to say nice weight, nice tummy bright eyes, active, as you say nice fat reserves in tail.

They should be nice and JUMPY !!

I think I remembered all your questions, hehehee I tried!

Thx a lot

I have heard that sand are really bad for them as they can result in impaction.

about those Aquaflame, if they are like the Yellow headed, they
are C. colaris Auricep no?

that's what I saw on the web.

I Dont use sand with very little collareds, use paper towels.
Only when they are a couple months old then I use the sand.

Been using it for 6 years.

The yellowheads used to be C.Aureceps but they have now dropped that seperate species name, and they are also now considered
C. Collaris
