problem feeder?

snakemanmatt30 Jun 16, 2003 06:21 PM

Hello I own 3 okkette corns, all are 02 hatchlings and are eating machines. I just purchased a striped motley from a guy, also an 02 and he won,t take anything. I have tried to put her in a small rubbermaid over night with a small f/t fuzzy mouse and braining the mouse, but she wont eat. I have had her for about 3 weeks, she has went potty once and also shed last week. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Matt

What did the previous owner feed her? ie. F/T? Live?

Well, if you have given the snake some time to acclimate, ie at least 10 days or so being left totally alone, then it still doesnt show any interest in what you present it, I would try a live fuzzy or hopper depending on the size of the snake. Maybe it was infact being fed live before, without getting ahold of the person you got it from you never know. One thing you should consider though is it does take time for snakes to acclimate to a new environment, during that time they should be left alone other than changing water. Since you own other Corn snakes I am assuming you are keeping it in an environment that is acceptable. That being the case I would just give it some time alone then try again, only after that try live. If that doesnt work I would consider a visit to your local Herp vet. Hope this helps. Mike
