Mick Spencer's Corn Snake Progeny Predictor Problems...help!

martinsonly Jun 16, 2003 06:25 PM

I keep getting the "Data access objects require VBDB300.DLL" error message when I try to use it. I downloaded the VBRUN300.EXE file and ran it, but I still get the error message. Can anyone help? Where's my VBDB300.DLL and how do I extract it?

Thanks,

Marty

When you downloaded the program it went to a specific file.
Then you went to that file and clicked on the VBRUN300.exe file.
When you did this it extracted the file and if I am not mistaken set up a new file, I think it was called cornprog.
What you need to do is go back to the file that contains the VBRUN300.exe file.
Here you should find the vbdb300.dll and vbrun300.dll files.
just drag them into the file that was created when you extracted the preditor file.(cornprog)
It has been a while but I think this is what I did.
I hope this makes sense.

Easy fix!

Right click on this link:
ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/doc/o-reilly/gff/CDROM/SOFTWARE/PC/MSWIN31/WIN4DV/VBRUN300.DLL
Choose Save file as, use the browse button and go to your corn prog folder and save the vbrunn300 file to the corn prog directory and run the program

With a bit of fooling around with it I found that you have to download the VBRUN300 file into the downloaded corn progeny file after you 'open' the corn program download. Then you click on the VBRUN fill to open it up IN the corn program file. The corn program will not recognize it if it is opened in its own file.
Hope this helps. I know it sounds confussing.

That did the trick...thanks.

I downloaded a progeny predictor from Serpwidgets a few years back. Is that the same program or are there several out there?

Different program. There are several such programs around. IMHO, Mick's is the best for corn snakes because it has a very nice human/computer interface. Unfortunately, nobody has produced one with anywhere hear as nice an interface for general use.

I had a problem when I cleaned up my computer's desktop...I put all my reptile pics/files (including the Prodegy program) into another folder...WELL...it simply would not work until I placed the program back on my desktop by itself. Hope this helps someone...
