hissing when held?

chaoscat May 11, 2004 04:57 PM

My female hisses like crazy when held, but the hissing my male does isn't anything like that.

When anyone here holds their pits, do they puff, sort of like hissing without being overly loud or opening their mouth?

My male does it all the time, at first he'd hiss loud, like the female does.. and now is more of a whispered hiss than anything else. No signs of RI or anything, either.

one of my male sonoran gophers will puff up like a sausage when held but wont make a sound.
several of my bulls will hiss quietly as well, while others hiss super loud.
