Which should I choose?

Doggone - I finished this once and lost it ....hate it when that happens...

Anyway, I just discovered a "female" Super that I spent a lot of money on is actually a male. I've emailed the fellow I got "her" from to see where things stand. If he can't or won't refund me or trade this "female" out for true female, then I will have to consider parting with one of the male Supers.

They both have good points and bad.

The "Fe-Male": Is larger in size, will produce sooner. He has a neat little reverse stripe on his tail. He is a darker rust-red and butterscotch coloring, sports a couple of black rings aroudn his tail saddles, and has been very sweet since I have gotten him.

The Male: Is smaller, has a gorgeous pink coloring, has zero black around his tail saddles, but has bitten me once.

So, after carefull consideration, if you had to part with one of these males, which would you part with and why?

Thank you for your opinions.

I would keep the one you have always known was a male, but that is just my personal preference. I like the lesser amount of black. But it really is a matter of what you like.

If I cared about breeding I would keep the male. If the male is a super you can breed him to several females and have all hypos including hypo morphs (if you have any).

The breeder, or person you bought them from, should refund your money or replace the animal. It is just good business ethics and is a small price to pay to keep a good customer. He said he was selling you a female, but gave you a male. You didn't get what you paid for. If I were you, I would push this issue with them.

But, if I had to pick.....I like them both. I guess it depends what breeding plans you have for them in the future. If you plan to cross it with those albinos you got, then I would keep the darker one. He should give the albinos more color. If you are just trying to produce nice, clean hypos, then I would keep the lighter one.

Good luck with this and let us know how it turns out.

That was my first course of action...waiting to hear back from him. He probably doesn't have any more nice female Supers available, except for any he held back to breed himself. I would prefer a nice Super female over my money back anyday. I hope I do hear back from him before long.

I was so happy with the pair I had. I was going to use the darker "female" Super to breed to the coral albino male I'm getting from Chuck. I wanted the lighter male Super for other projects. Of course, at some point they would have been bred together as well....They were perfect for what I wanted, so it tore me all to pieces when I discovered the mistake.

Thank you for your response.

good point. i have in the past sold a female as a male. the sexed snakes got reversed so i made good on it to the customer and just gave a replacement snake and let them keep the mis-sexed one. this customer has purchased from me a few times and i have purchased from them so i just thought it would be good to do and, great for our bussiness relationship.
