Only CGD Meat baby food for gargoyle ok for now...?

yeahx May 11, 2004 05:59 PM

I recently got myself my first gargoyle gecko and it seems to be doing fine but I wanted to ask a few things.

I have ordered some of the gargoyle gecko diet but for now Im giving it cgd and various meat baby foods occasionaly and I was wondering if that was too much protein for them, if there is such a thing. I'm spoon feeding because I don't think I would notice if it ate anything from a dish and I want to make sure it's eating.

The other thing I wanted to ask is about the set up. I currently have it in a critter keeper with some fake plastic vines that have small leaves on them and I have them in there kind of dense. Should I make the set up less dense or is this good for youngsters to feel more secure?

I can post some pics later if anyone needs to see what I mean.

Thanks

I forgot to put this in my previous post but I read about this somewhere and it sounded like a good idea to get geckos to eat more and grow quicker. I think the crickets I got at the store were too big and thats why Im not using any right now so I was wondering if I should go with flightless fruit flies.

You would be suprised the size of crickets baby aurics can eat. My babies normally eat 1/2" crickets from the start. In fact they prefer larger prey items. I've never had good luck using the diets and have had very good luck using dusted crickets and supplemented babyfoods.
