Questions Setting Up New Enclosure

AprilInNebraska May 11, 2004 06:06 PM

I'm setting up a new enclosure for my female BCI and I've got some questions. She was born October 30, 2003 and I've had her since November 2003. I want to make her set-up as perfect as I can to sort of mimic how she'd be in the wild.

I've set up a 55 gallon aquarium and have 2 hides...one at each end...a water bowl, some branches for her to climb on and plan to add a few fake plants to it.

My question is what is considered the perfect temperature and what is considered the perfect humidity level for a Columbian Red Tail Boa?

For heat I'm using a heating pad under the tank but would like to consider using the different lightings for heat. What would be best to use?

Also, the top for the enclosure is a screen lid. How can I make that so it keeps the humidity in it better?

I've finally ordered 2 books off of Amazon.com dealing with boa's. One is The Boa Constrictor Manual and the other is The Guide to Owning a Red-Tailed Boa.

Thank you greatly in advance
