Pastel balls

arboreals May 11, 2004 06:57 PM

ok I have a real problem with the selling of false morphs for large amounts of money. I don't mind the people selling normals that call them names because most charge a small amount and it's a sales pitch. I see 2 c.h. pastels on the classifieds which clearly ARE NOT pastels. Come on I can easily go to the importers and get babies that look far more pastel then those two! I never thought it would get this bad. Anyways just some thoughs. Buyers beware and ONLY buy from repitable people unless it's clearly a morph. Even then you are still being risky.

That AD clearly is a scam, and so are the rest from that seller. And they want how much for each? And they are CH??? Any CH morph should be sold for far less just because of that "unproven" factor, unless they obviously show the trait (albinos, piebalds, etc). It's really getting on my nerves now to see those types of ADs in the classifieds.

The 0.3 "Tiger" balls? $700 each? This person probably bought a 10 Lot of CH balls for a hundred bucks and slapped these silly names on them. But he is not "claiming" them to be a morph...

He is claiming the c.h. "pastels" to be pastels. What a joke!

I totally agree what you said. Those people who are selling some snakes which are not worth that much. Especially in ball python there are some sellers just try to make some money without responsibility (selling [bleep] as gold). I really think kingsnake.com would take out their ads. And that is why I only buy ball python from local breeders. I will never want to deal with liar ball python¡¦s sellers.

I just came here to rant about this. I try my best to refrain from burning bridges in this small community of reptile enthusiasts; However, sometimes people just piss me off. How can they be so decieving? I really hope no one falls for this stuff, and feel bad for anyone who has. I have E-mailed this person in the past about questionable posts and got some pretty funny/upsetting replies, including one about how he is a well known name in this business and how I should be carefull who I point the finger at, because I might want to do business in the future. I don't think so! These recent ads are far worse then the previous B.S. bout some high yellows and burgundy morphs. And on top of that, they are overpriced! I expect more of these as imports come in, and hope there is some way to regulate this and weed out the crooks. Be carefull everyone, and ball pythons rock!

I knew this wasn't a good guy to deal with back when I was selling 2 c.b. biak chondros. He wanted to trade me straight up for an axantic ball. He also contacted my friend Aaron luxenburg trying to trade him for his pastel and the normal females. If anyone saw his second ad for his pastel it is the real deal (Aarons's pastels not the other guys!). I told him he needed new pics as the first pics looked like normals lol. Anyways It is rediculas that people must scam others to become something in the herp community. Another reason why it's worth spending the extra money with the big guys.

Ok, everybody to the other board so we can talk...

It's really too bad that calling out a *true* bad guy here just causes trouble. I guess it's more important to make a buck than to take the moral high road (IMHO).

This is a recurring issue though, isn't it. It seems like there are always at least a few ads depicting normal ball pythons being offered at morph-ish prices.
Mind you, many of these animals were likely bought from importers/distributors at about 7-10 bucks each.
All the best,
Perry

NO DOUBT... This is crazy that people are trying to rip people off this bad. There are two pastels or they wish pastels on the adds right now that are not true statements. Some of the pictures even look doctored up a little. I feel sorry for the novice that is trying to get into the business and pays all that money for a normal.
