Feeding and shedding question

Luckiefool420 May 11, 2004 07:02 PM

I got my BP 7 months ago and she was about 6 months old. She weighs 486 grams. Since January she has been eating real irregulary. She would eat one mouse once or twice a month. i tried last week and she didn't take anything. Oh, I am feeding live or prekiiled mice. Some of the time I will try live, she won't take it but will take a preekilled. She seems scared of the mouse too. My friend who has a ball python, his snake gets the mouse as sson as it is dropped into the cage. It usually takes some time for my snake to strike at the mouse. Most of the time she just shoves her head by her body and then if she wants to eat she takes forever to get it. I know part of this could be she's not hungry but she just seems really scared. I thought by now she would be eating regulary again. i know it is normal for them to go off feed for the winter but it's already may. Also, she has only shed twice in the last 7 months i have had her. I thought it was going to be more often than that while she is young.

it sounds like you are underfeeding her if you are only giving her 1 mouse a week at most. Try offering more next time. also what are the temps and humidity? how is the cage heated?

Try to increase the temp about 5 degree, and also put a hide box. Hope this help... (I have one ball python won't eat, and after I give him a hide box, he never miss a meal again). Thanks, Eric

I use a het lamp and UTH. Temps are in the lower 90's and the umidity stays around 50%. She has two hides. She mainly stays on the cool side hide. And i do offer her more mice she just only takes one.
