Is there something wrong with my whites-tree frog?!?!?!

frogger May 11, 2004 08:10 PM

My whites tree frog which I have had for about a year and a half now looks like there is a problem with him. Whites Tree Frogs I have found to be green and sometimes turning to brown. This tree frog has never ever been green a day since I got him so that was unusual for me. But the real issue was about 2 days ago I noticed that he had this thin, cloudy liquid, over his eyes, second eye lids? Im not sure. However he has had those same "eye lids/liquid" covering his eye (which are open not closed), for the past 2 days. He looks awful and I was wondering if there was any way i could help him or what the problem might be. There is one other whites tree frog in the tank, about the same age and size, she looks fine (green...etc). The temperature is about 80 and the humditiy is about 40. I change their water pool every 2-3 days and their feed with large crickets every 3 days or so. Please if anyone can tell me anything that might help i would appreicate it. Thanks.........frogger

As for the color, my frogs were brown for the longest time, I then added these plants with these beautifully large green leaves and gave them more space and they are no green. I think that brown, although there are color variations in wtfs I think it usually a sign of unhappiness. So something maybe wrong. How big is the enclosure? Even though the other one may seem fine, maybe they are bickering a little. YOu can try to seperate them.
The cloudy eyes is a husbandry problem (usually). I think you need to clean the water EVERYDAY!!! That may help. B/c your temp and humidity sound fine.
Also do you treat your water??? I also found when I started treating my water with Amquel their color and their eyes got better.
Those are just my guesses from experience.
Good luck
Christina

He is probably shedding his skin. Just keep an eye on him the next day or so and see if things don't get better.
