No they do not need to be fed crix. You can raise, maintain, and breed them on a diet of mixed supplemented babyfood, or the crested gecko diet. I would stay away from mealworms. If you want the babyfood mix that I use, email me. If you choose to use the crested gecko diet(which I also use) , you can get it at most petcos or order in bulk from sandfire dragon ranch or giantgeckos.com

I personally prefer crix and always recommend them. Crested geckos are one of the most insectivorous of the Rhacs and they thrive off them (esp when young). Crix are usually clean and easy to keep, just make sure they are kept warm, well fed, and hydrated. If you absolutely hate crix then you can sustain them on baby fruit mixtures (or CGD) if you must, make sure they are properly varied and supplemented or you can run into health issues. Try running a search on the archived forum, you will find TONS of info on this topic; it has been debated many times. Browse through them and decide what is best for your gecko. If you need any additional info just drop me a line (e-mail is up top) and I’ll send you a full care e-guide.
