dubumb May 11, 2004 08:49 PM

I just measured my tegu... 11 days after i got him... He's grown 2˝"! I cant get over it!

My only concern is he's only awake about 1 hour (if that) a day... This cant be normal but he's perfectly healthy...

Whats the deal?

Do you mean you only see him one hour a day, or are you able to check in every hour or so? Either way I wouldn't worry, he may be coming in and out for short periods of time. Your temps aren't too high are they?

I would not worry, I got Lucky a month ago tomorrow and he has grown 5". Lucky is on a great schedule he comes out between 6-7 every night. I move him into the bathroom which I set up with heat light and news paper. Once he unloads on the paper I hang out with him in there or occasionally let him check out the house a little. Then I return him to his home and feed him. After he eats he just lays around. I have found if I close all the curtains in that room and turn out his 2 day lights and then turn on his night light he may or may-not retire to his cave. If I leave the day lights much past 10pm he will barricade him self in his cave for the night. If you would like seeing him more you may try the thing with the lights.

Good Luck!
