A blended mixture of various fruits, veggies, ground turkey, and whatever else happened to be tegu friendly in the fridge at the time.

i wouldnt want that for dinner! how do tegus manage to like it?!?!?!?!?

Ghost425 May 12, 2004 07:53 PM

it has everything they love, all at once. I assume by your name that you have crested geckos- its similar to the crested gecko diet that you can buy powdered, except i freeze it instead of dehydrating it.

Ghost425 May 12, 2004 09:33 PM

Just mail order a couple for 35 apiece. check out the classifieds. It beats petstores or shows...

i would, the shipping is sooooo expensive tho.

Ghost425 May 13, 2004 10:53 PM

No its not, you can get one shipped for about 15$. That totals them out to under 60$ for a relatively plain one... I have seen them as low as $20 a head, so that means the total would be around $40.

were can you find that shipping price? i live in WA.

Usumbara May 13, 2004 03:00 PM

Hey Ghost, do you use it as their primary diet? If so, do you have a source of calcium in it? Calcium is needed for an animal that grows so fast.

Ghost425 May 13, 2004 09:28 PM

Haha yeah... I know what im doing. I have been successfully raisning them for years on that stuff. I put in a good scoop of bonemeal to every batch...

can you post the recipe and instructions on how to make it? also, where do you get the bone meal from? I think Amika is getting sick of mice

Ghost425 May 13, 2004 10:51 PM

Actually, there really is no recipie. Just get a bunch of good fruits (kiwi, strawberry, mango, peaches, grapes...), veggies (squashes, pumpkin, carrot...), and add a pack of lean ground turkey breast (at about a 60% (plant) - 40% (animal)). I actually add spirulina powder now for added essential vitamins, nutrients, and enzymes, but you don't have to (it also gives food a sweet, fruity taste and a dark green color). I bought a huge bottle of bone meal supplement (for people!) at an HEB grocery store called Central Market, but I am sure you can find it online. I just add several heaping spoonfulls of it to the mix, and then puree everything together in a cuisenart. Then, I get ice cube trays and freeze it in them, making convenient, bite sized portions! About a minute in the microwave on full power thaws two cubes out quite well. If you have any more questions, let me know.

sounds good...but how much spirulina and bone meal? i wouldn't want to overdose.

Ghost425 May 14, 2004 02:59 PM

well, it usually makes about 3.5 trays worth, so just imagine how much you would sprinkle on everyday... I just add a heaping tablespoon.
