Hello,

IMHO every snake has an individual personality, but the species have similar dispotions. I have both retics and burms, both are gentle giants if raised right. But I have noticed burms are less nervous, especially when they get some size to them. Burms are more likely to be happy just to chill on ur lap, while ive noticed that retics want to crawl all over the place.

My posts and replies are my personal experiences and opinions ONLY

In a poll i read Burms kill 1 person a year, Retics kill 3...on the other hand how many thousands of people die a year to a horse...or even a dog??

But the people who die from Burms and retics messed up and most likely werent too responsible with the snake.

Yes, but it helps to have abit of experience dealing with large snakes so you don't make those mistakes that get you killed. Burms can kill people, and while they are known for their good temperments they can be dangerous.

I have a question for you, what will you do in the eventuality that a large burm or retic bites and and begins constricting you? This is something you must be prepared for. Just like every hot keeper needs to be prepared for a bite.

I love keeping giants, they are my favourite snakes. Reitcs and Burms top that list as my favourite snakes to own and work with. I really do think you should start with Ball Pythons, move to a BCI or a BCC, then move on to a Burm. This will take sometime but as you go you will learn how to prepare yourself for every eventuality that may occur. You will learn how to handle large constrictors and how to feed them. What defensive and feed behaviours look like. And how to be safe. I've read too many stories of people getting killed by burms and retics for totally preventable reasons. This always fuels the ban reptiles as pets movenment. The public hears about these instances not the thousands were large constrictors are kept safely and healthily.

I understand the desire for a Retic or Burm, hell at 10 I wanted one. But I'm glad I didn't get one in hindsight. Got to learn to walk before you can run. Sorry I know this isn't what you want to hear.

A poll of who?

Neither burms nor retics kill people on a yearly basis. Thats just absurd.
