Is this a mating display????(more)

bengalensis Jun 16, 2003 07:28 PM

Im not sure if I have 1:1. Im planning on having a friend come by this week and check my beardies. Ive noticed interesting behaviour in the two though, that makes me wonder. One has always been more dominate over the other. It frequently jumps on the others back on bites its neck. Today they were in my room in front of my closet(which has mirrors on the doors), when the dominate one rushed at its reflection beard puffed and mouth all the way open! After it did that, it ran over, got inbetween the other one and the mirrior and pushed it aside still threatening its own reflection!! It then proceeded to hop on the other ones back, biting is neck until it began waving its arms. Ive never seen any mating between them...like no everting(do beardies even have hemipenes??)
I know I need to do some research, Ive always been more of a monitor person I guess.
Does this sound like courtship, or dominance displays between two males?

Thank you,
Michelle

Oh yeah, the more dominate one even charged the cat during this incident, when it got too close to them!!

How old are they? If the female is less then 18 months old, you'll not want the mating to take place. And yes, males to have hemipenes.
