Why do Beardeds only live 8-10 years and geckos live 20 years....

Are they that different..I always thought all reptiles tended to have long lives like snakes..Just wondering?

That is a good question. Lizards of the agamid and iguanid familits tend to live shorter lives than geckoes., My theory is that it has something to do with being diurnal?

I believe that Bearded Dragons have a higher metabolism than Geckos do. In other words, their heart runs faster, which means more energy, but their heart doesn't last as long.
