Will a gravid boa still eat?

MBLEEK448 May 12, 2004 09:50 PM

I bought a female pastel acouple of months ago and she was kept with a male and one other female. I was told there is a possible chance she is gravid. I fed her last night and it seems the rat is higher in her middle section then normal. Is there any signs I should look for or should I let her go acouple weeks from feeding? She eats once a week now. Thanks Marshall

while their gravid. that's a good thing. don't over due it or anything, but a prey item 1/2-2/3 the normal size every so often will keep her from losing weight during her pregnancy.

I usually try not to attract her attention, and toss it in (F/T ONLY), the considerably smaller than normal prey item, and try to get it near her without getting her agitated.. the whole point is not to let her get excited and thrash around trying to grab it and constrict it.. this could be detremental to the babies development.
If this doesn't seem possible, I probably wouldn't even try it.

If you do get her to eat a bit, safely, during her pregnancy, the benefits are immense...
