my Eyelash Frog made friends with my White's tonight

Lyn May 12, 2004 10:51 PM

Don't panic, they are in separate enclosures and will never actually be in contact. I finished misting/feeding my new Eyelash frogs (have had them since last Thursday so just under a week) and was just starting to take care of my White's when I heard the cutest little sound. One of the new Eyelash frogs was singing! Such a cute sound, a pop followed by a snore, nice and quiet. My husband would freak if he heard frogs croaking in the house, so I was so happy they were quite singers. NOT. All of a sudden insead of just his throat puffing a little, it puffed up a LOT and out came a very LOUD croak! Uh Oh. Luckily hubby was upstairs blasting his rock music and not trying to sleep. The first time his sleep is interupted by a frog is going to be the last time his sleep will be interupted by a frog. Luckily my White's only calls between 9pm and midnight (not the whole time, just for a bit each night w/in that time frame. Hubby stays up till at least 1am so Trevor has never disturbed him. Speaking of Trevor, my White's, he heard the Eyelash singing and started singing himself! Poor guy really needs a friend. They "talked" to each other back and forth for several minutes. Was really neat, and really loud. The new frogs are eating well (several small meals as suggested) and I'm taking the croaking as a positive sign that they are doing well. Only one was croaking. The other was sitting 1/2 inch away but didn't make a sound. Must be neat for those of you with multiple frog species when they all get going at once! I do FrogWatch USA (link in my sig) and really enjoy going out at night to listen for the local frogs, then coming home to my own little "croakers". Frogs are just too cool!

This is the one who was singing tonight

And his friend Trevor
