Question on use of tail and feeding behavior

polarpooch1 May 13, 2004 12:07 AM

Hello everyone...my boyfriend has two new baby chondros. And we've noticed that one "squirms" her tail when she's in the "hunting" stance (it looks like a wiggling worm). Does anyone else's chondro do this? I have read that most chondros don't exhibit the behavior in captivity. It's very cool to watch--it looks so freakishly real! The other chondro never does this.

Would appreciate replies on how common this is...and to know if what I've read is true or not.

Thanks!

Most babies will exibit this behavior when hungry. Most will stop after about a year, but will occasionally wiggle the worm in their keeper's presence. I have 9 year old adults that still say "FEED ME!" It's funny how they know where the opening of the cage is too.

Thank you Brandon for the reply!

So then, it is fairly common. Well, I hope we have one that keeps it up because it's a very interesting behavior! By the way, they're ALWAYS hungry and the little one is ALWAYS saying "FEED ME"! she'd eat everyday if we let her.
