Only one baby with smelly poop?

lisa_cristin May 13, 2004 03:43 AM

Here I go again, talking about poop. Does poop from younger leos have a more potent smell? I have three baby leos all about 1 month old. They all came from the same reputable breeder, eat the same food, and until recently have been housed together. Since separating them the smallest one has really smelly poop. It's not a different smell, just more potent. In fact all of their poop smells a bit stronger that a leo that I had in the past. I think this might be because I housed that leo on calci sand, which may have masked the smell a bit. I know that parasites could be a possibility, but I have talken all precautions. I clean/disinfect regularily and I get all of their food from a reputable insect site. Besides the smell their poop seems fairly normal.

The only thing is there are no herp vets in town. Well there is one but I refuse to have anything to do with him. Could I maybe ship them to the nearest reputable herp vet?

any vet can tell you the results of a fecal, and should be able to help you treat it. Most medicines used on reptiles for parasites can also be used on mammals. If not, you can buy parazap or panacur online (panacur is also sold at feedstores for horses, but I forget the name) and have someone give you the dosages. This is what I do.
