One last question from a newbie.

crtoon83 May 13, 2004 06:51 AM

Do their tanks start smelling really bad? or is that just when I don't clean it out like i'm supposed to? I'm questioning this because it'll be in my bedroom, and i'm not too fond of smelling snake sh*t all day every day and when i go to bed and wake up to it in the morning....

I have 11 snakes in one room and they hardly smell at all. I use aspen bedding, spot clean whenever I notice feces (which means it does not sit there for more than a day or two), and make a complete change of bedding when needed. I have mostly ratsnakes, which are not as heavy-bodied as some of the pythons, boas, etc, so a 5 foot black rat doesn't drop as big a load as a 5 foot python. Odor is really not an issue at all.
