Davis Mt. locale bairdi pics

gofer May 13, 2004 09:03 AM

These guys are growing like weeds and finally starting to show adult colorations. The pics are not the best, but you can kind of see the purple and orange on the sides of them. The parents of these guys were both from Davis Mt., off of Highway 17.

Have a good one,

Gregg F.

I've got one that was collected from Olympia Mtn. It is quite a bit darker than yours, but its sides are a blue-grey.
The most surprising this is that it has its adult coloration and it is still under 3 feet in length. I have no idea what age it is, but it is extremely small for an adult. I have an '02 female which has always been a problem feeder and is larger than the Davis Mtns male. Curious.

Yes, I really like the blue-grey colored bairdi too. Those Davis Mt. bairdi are around 3 1/2 feet, with the male probably closer to 3 feet. But all are showing a lot of adult coloration, hopefully i can get some better pics outside in the natural light soon. I think i have seen your bairdi pics posted before, but can't remember for sure. If you get a chance please post them again or if you haven't posted any yet please do, i would really like to see the blue-grey colored bairdi you have.

Have a good one,
Gregg F.

Nice looking bairds Gregg. I have a trio from the same parents as those you have. Depending on where they are located, the Davis Mountain bairds seems to be a light or a daker shade. The darker phase doesn't appear to change completely over to stripes or faint stripes. There seems to be a faint cross bar pattern that may still be seen. I hear some people say the Davis Mountain bairdi are not as nice looking as let's say Val Verde or Bandero Counties. Some of the prettiest bairds I've seen were collected or are offspring of bairds in the Davis Mountain area. Good luck with those Gregg. It looks like you are getting quite the baird collection going.

Thanks Terry, i believe you do have some animals from the same parents of my trio. I can't see much of the stripign on my bairdi still, but some side bars are still showing. You have a great collection of bairdi too, I want to pick up some Mexican bairdi babies from you sometime soon.
Have a good weekend Terry,

Gregg
